lets talk health benefits and bone broth. this magical mixture has been around for hundreds of years! we usually see bone broth on the shelf, in a small dense cubes, or in paste form. this is the bone broth that our generation is used to consuming but i cannot stress enough how loaded these are. sodium, preservatives, filler, etc. this is not something that we need to fill our bodies with.
bone broth is a great, gentle way for the body to readily absorb minerals that are lacking in the body. take a look at this list & you'll understand why people are now taking the time to make it at home.
1. good for you gut
2. maintains healthy skin
3. protect joints
4. boosts metabolism
5. reduces cellulite
6. boosts immune system
7. provides body with needed minerals such as amino acids, collagen, gelatin and trace minerals.
amino acids regulate almost all of the metabolic processes in the human body, and they are essential for a healthy body.
collagen is found in muscles, bones, skin, blood vessels, digestive system and tendons. its what helps give our skin strength & elasticity, along with replacing dead skin cells.
gelatin helps tighten skin, improves gut health, heals joints & boosts metabolism
trace minerals helps your body with digestion, growth and hormone regulation.
making your own bone broth is good for you and super simple to make. all you need is grass fed bones (you can find these at your local farmers market), a crock pot, an assortment of vegetables and your favorite spices. so gather up your ingredients and lets get started. this recipe is so simple and the benefits are wonderful for your body, inside and out.

Ingredients:
3 pounds grassfed beef soup bones (I get mine from our milk farmer – ask around at farmers markets!)
1 onion, coarsely chopped
spices such as pepper, pink seal salt, garlic, thyme, sage, parsley, rosemary, red pepper flakes, ect. the list is so long so go WILD here.
2-3 celery stalks, coarsely chopped
¼ cup apple cider vinegar (ACV) (Since it is heated up I don’t worry about it being raw but I do opt for organic.)
Filtered cold water
Instructions:
Roast the raw bones in a 400 degree oven for an hour.
Put the roasted bones, onion & celery, and ACV into your crockpot or oven roaster and fill with water to cover the bones by an inch-ish.
Let the mixture sit for 30-60 minutes. DO NOT TURN THE HEAT ON YET. This allows the vinegar to extract minerals from the bones.
Turn the crock pot on low or oven roaster at 200-225 degrees for 24-36 hours.
Strain the broth. Store in the fridge up to 7 days in mason jars, in the freezer 3-6 months, or deep freezer up to a year. Let the broth come to room temp before putting in the freezer. Leave the top off for 24 hours to freeze if you are storing in glass jars in the freezer to allow for expanding.

ENJOY during the day or as a warm night cap after a long day!
